Most bridal sessions come with an entourage. Sometimes I have assistants. Often friends and family of the bride come along to watch and help. But on this day it was just Catie and me. And we had a blast! Catie said she had been watching America’s Next Top Model and practicing up. She definitely had the poses down! She said she had already paid for a dress cleaning. She must have been for real because she treated the session like a “trash the dress session”. I wanted someone to be there to help hold her on the bridge so she would not fall off, but she just looked at me and said, “I can swim”. Ha! I love it! I just wanted to post a little sneak peek of the session. Her wedding is next month at Graylyn. I can’t wait!

Fearrington Wedding Photography : Laura Bridal Session

What an incredible session! Laura is having her wedding at Fearrington in July so we met there for her bridal session. She looked absolutely stunning. A couple of shout outs are in order. First, Laura recently got accepted to medical school. Congratulations! Second, Laura goes to UNC. Congratulations on the National Championship. Laura said she was celebrating on Franklin Street and even jumped over the fire! We ended up with 177 keepers, but I only have time to show you a few of my favorites…

Winston-Salem Wedding Photography : Kristin’s Bridal Session

After a week of rain postponed our session, yesterday I met Kristin at Reynolda Gardens for her bridal session. She looked amazing in her ivory, form-fitting gown. I can’t wait to see the look on Ross’s face when he finially sees her! It didn’t rain on us, but it was a little chilly. Kristin was a trooper and never complained a bit. She was so awesome to work with and willing to try whatever I suggested. I’m excited about her wedding later this month! Here are a few of my favorite images from the session…

Roanoke Bridal Session: Tamara

Last week I made the trip to Roanoke for Tamara's bridal session. The long trip was definitely
worth it! We did the session just outside Roanoke in Catawba. Beautiful bride, beautiful scenery,
beautiful weather! What else is there to say.

Allison & Adam are getting married in October so I met Allison at Tanglewood Park for some bridal shots.
I had a great time working with her. It was a little warm and humid but she was a great sport. Can’t wait
for the wedding! Here are a few of my favorites.

Greensboro Bridal & Engagement Session: Melissa & MarK

When I moved to Greensboro, I wasn’t fond of doing bridal sessions. Bridal sessions are more of
a southern thing and not something that was done in Louisville. At first they seemed to require too
much posing which felt too traditional, and I much preferred to do engagement sessions. Well, they
have actually grown on me, and now I highly recommend a couple to do an engagement session and
a bridal session. If you had to do just one, I would recommend the engagement session, but bridal
sessions do offer several advantages over doing the session on the day of the wedding.

First, it frees you up on the wedding day because your session is already finished. This saves you
about 15 to 30 minutes on the wedding day. Bridal sessions also allow the time of day to be chosen.
I shoot all my sessions around sunset because that is when the light is the best. Having beautiful light is
crucial to great photographs. Not only can the time of day be chosen, but the location can also be
chosen. Also, more care needs to be taken with the dress on the wedding day. If the dress gets
dirty during a bridal session, it can always be cleaned. This allows for more variety of poses and
opens up more locations. A bridal session can be longer than a session on the day of the wedding
which will provide better images. A bridal session allows a dress rehearsal to prepare for the wedding
day. You get to spend time with everything on and make sure you will be able to be in those shoes
all day! All of these things lead to better photographs! So if you had to choose just one I would
definitely say do an engagement session, but I highly recommend doing both.

This brings me to Melissa & Mark. They chose to do a bridal session and an engagement session.
They will be getting married next month at Greensboro College with a reception to follow at
Starmount Forest. I’m really looking forward to it!

Asheboro Bridal Session: Nicole

Nicole lives in Nashville and so the first time I saw her was in her wedding dress. She definitely made
a great first impression : ) Nicole will be getting next month in Asheboro so I headed there for a
